One of the quotable quotes of karunanidhi is his characterization of "Hindus as thieves". He said that in a public meeting in Chennai on 24-10-2002. Immediately on 25-10-2002, a complaint was lodged by Mr Bala Gauthaman but no FIR was filed. (Readers may recall that Mr Bala Gauthaman was the person who challenged in court Karunanidhi's earlier order on changing Tamil New Year to Thai.) Due to his sustained efforts, an FIR was filed on 06-01-2006 and the case came for hearing yesterday.
Justice Kirubakaran who heard the case ordered to serve notice to Karunanidhi to reply within 4 days to explain his stance. The case is due to come for further hearing on Tuesday next.
This is a significant development, we must say. Karunanidhi has been a habitual offender of Hindu sentiments. In this particular case, he had the audacity to call all the Hindus as thieves. A civil society based on democratic principles can not and must not tolerate such talks. It is time that Karunanidhi is brought to book and made to apologize for not only this talk but countless other talks with an undertaking that he would not repeat this again.

இந்து என்றால் திருடன் என்று இந்துக்களை இழிவாகப் பேசிய திமுக தலைவர் இன்னும் 4 நாட்களுக்கு உரிய விளக்கம் தர வேண்டும் என்று சென்னை உயர் நீதிமன்றம் அவருக்கு தனிப்பட்ட நோட்டீஸ் அனுப்பியுள்ளது.
சென்னை மயிலாப்பூர் வேத அறிவியல் மையத்தின் சார்பில் பி.ஆர்.கௌதமன் ஒரு மனுவை தாக்கல் செய்தார். கடந்த 24.10.2002 அன்று சென்னையில் நடைபெற்ற ஒரு கூட்டத்தில் இந்து என்றால் திருடன் என்று கருணாநிதி பேசியிருந்தார். இது இந்து மக்களின் உணர்வுகளைப் புண்படுத்தும் படி இருக்கிறது என்று, இதற்கு தகுந்த நடவடிக்கை கோரி மறுநாள் 25.10.2002 அன்று மாம்பலம் காவல் நிலையத்தில் புகார் அளித்தேன். அதன் மீது முதல் தகவல் அறிக்கை பதிவு செய்யப்படவில்லை. மேலும், இது குறித்து மீண்டும் உயர் நீதிமன்றத்தை அணுகியபோது, உயர் நீதிமன்ற உத்தரவின் படி 6.1.2006இல் காவல் நிலையத்தில் எப்.ஐ.ஆர். பதிவு செய்யப்பட்டது. அதன் பிறகு அவர் மீது பதிவு செய்யப்பட்ட எப்.ஐ.ஆரின் அடிப்படையில் அவரை அழைத்து விசாரிக்கவோ, நடவடிக்கை எடுக்கவோ காவல் துறையினர் எவ்வித முயற்சியும் மேற்கொள்ளவில்லை.
எனவே உயர்நீதிமன்ற உத்தரவின்படி பதிவு செய்யப்பட்ட எப்.ஐ.ஆரின் படி கருணாநிதியிடம் விளக்கம் கேட்கவும், அவர் மீதான விசாரணை மேற்கொள்ளுமாறு காவல்துறையினருக்கு நீதிமன்றம் உத்தரவிட வேண்டும் என்றும் தனது மறு மனுவில் கௌதமன் கூறியிருந்தார்.
இந்த மனு உயர் நீதிமன்ற நீதிபதி கிருபாகரன் முன்னிலையில் விசாரணைக்கு வந்தது. இந்த மனு மீது இன்று காவல் துறைக்கு (காவல்துறை ஆணையர், மாம்பலம் காவல் துறை ஆய்வாளர் ஆகியோருக்கும்)நோட்டீஸ் அனுப்ப உத்தரவு பிறப்பித்த நீதிபதி, கருணாநிதிக்கு தனிப்பட்ட முறையில் விளக்கம் கேட்டு நோட்டீஸ் வழங்கலாம் என்றும் உத்தரவிட்டார். மேலும், இது தொடர்பான அடுத்த விசாரணையை வரும் செவ்வாய்க் கிழமைக்கு ஒத்திவைத்து நீதிபதி உத்தரவிட்டார். இதனால், வரும் 4 நாட்களுக்குள் கருணாநிதி உரிய விளக்கம் தர வேண்டும் என்று நோட்டீஸ் அனுப்பப் பட்டுள்ளது.

What surprises me is our judicial system and democracy in our country. An incident of 2002 is booked by Police only in 2006, that too after High court order. From 2001 to 2006, Karunanidhi's bete noire Jayalalithaa was ruling and still case was not booked.
Now in 2013, Court issues order for reply by 4 days! What is happening in our country? We are hypocrites to say we are democrats and practice democracy. A simple case can not be booked by Police and requires Court order, which comes after 5 years!
I think Bala Gautaman must have moved mountains to get the case booked and another equally great effort to get the case registered in court!
What is the position of a common man? Does he ever have any hope of justice in this country?
And, the case? Already damage has been done. How many witness will come forward, if at all the case is taken up for enquiry? May be another 10 years before any tangible enquiry. Then there are appeals and petitions..It is endless and makes an honest citizen to look at our system with worry. Even God can not save this country!
