Even now the Ikshvaku neeti is relevant. I will write a series on this sometime in future. For the time being, you may browse the archives of http://groups.yahoo.com/groups/oppiliappan/ for the 7 part series on this I wrote in that group.

>>>Isn't is true that people of previous Yuga's have longer lifespan<<<

Perhaps. Again here I make a distinction between the saptharishi or mini yuga and the Chathur yuga.
In Chathur yuga scale, the differences may be there. This issue also has been addressed by me in that series.

>>> And as Kali comes to an end, people's lifespan would be reduced to a matter of days?<<<

Perhaps in the end of KAli maha yuga. I have not looked into this so far.

>>Also, NASA's report of the bridge being around 17 lakh years old - has this been considered..?<<<

Considered for what?

If you have read my early posts in this blog on 'no aryan divide' discussing Sethu, you will find that I have detailed the digging up of what is now Bay of bengal by the sons of Sagara, Rama's ancestor.
Srilanka was connected with Indian mainland until then. From the accounts in Valmiki Ramayana, we infer that land was dug around Lanka but was stopped at what is now Sethu. Further digging went southwards on the east of Kumari that stretched to 1000 miles into the Indian ocean. I have produced evidence from Puranaanuru urai that the Bay of Bengal was a sea that was dug. In Tamil it is known as 'thodu kadal'- meaning 'thOndappatta kadal' ( a sea that was dug) which was filled by the river Ganga. That is why it was known as Ganga sagar (today as Bengal sagar).

The area over Sethu was not dug by them, that being an area where continental plates overlap. Digging has happened on both sides of the structure. This structure of a divide on the bed of ocean was further raised by Rama. So this bridge will exhibit both an antiquated structure and a later build-up on it. This is the hypothesis I can draw. Detailed analysis is given in my posts on Sethu.Jayasree Saranathan https://www.blogger.com/profile/01048252011566427834noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3442555339667770589.post-78719097075715776852008-09-08T13:43:00.000+05:302008-09-08T13:43:00.000+05:30Understood.* But Madam, isn't it true that Rama ru...Understood.

* But Madam, isn't it true that Rama ruled the world for 10,000 years?

* Isn't is true that people of previous Yuga's have longer lifespan?

* And as Kali comes to an end, people's lifespan would be reduced to a matter of days?

* Also, NASA's report of the bridge being around 17 lakh years old - has this been considered..?

- SundarAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3442555339667770589.post-13762277080893908622008-09-08T10:32:00.000+05:302008-09-08T10:32:00.000+05:30Yes Sundar. As per Hindu chronicles, life started o...Yes Sundar.

As per Hindu chronicles, life started on earth 1.95 billion years ago. It is interesting to note that it is roughly the time when life forms appeared on the earth according to scientists.Out of the 4,32,00,00,000 years of Brahma’s Day, nearly 2,16,00,00,000 years have been over. It has also been recorded in Surya Siddhantha that 1,970,784,000 is the age of the earth and 1,953,720,000 has been the period of man. What we can understand is that of the 4.32 billion years which is the age of the earth so far, 1.97 billion years has been the period when earth became “earth” fit enough for habitation and 1.95 billion years is the time since some form of life has come into existence. Since it is the same Jiva which is supposed to take births of sthavara and jangama in accordance with the purva karma, it might have been said like this.

Taking a look at the more recent activity of formation of Himalayas, it coincides with the time period of the beginning of the present manvanthra. In this, 27 cycles of Chathur yugas are over and we are in the 28 th chathur yuga. That means Ramavathara has happened 28 times in this Chathur yuga alone.

I go still further to say that the Chathur yuga is further split into Mini yuga cycle also known as Saptha rishi mandala cycle based on completion of precession of equinoxes around the zodiac. The calculation I have given is based on that. The Ramayana and corroboratory astronomical data point to Ramavathara of Valmiki Ramayana to this period only.

As per Rig veda and Surya Siddhantha, this mini yuga happens 15 times in Kali mahayuga and 150 times in a Chathur maha yuga.
That means a chathur maha yuga of 43,20,000 solar years will see Rama and Krishna's birth for 150 times.
Within the period before 17 lakh years that people believe that Thretha yuga happened, Rama was born more than 60 times!!Jayasree Saranathan https://www.blogger.com/profile/01048252011566427834noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3442555339667770589.post-82946218781779847912008-09-08T08:48:00.000+05:302008-09-08T08:48:00.000+05:30Madam, Do take a look at this link - http://www.m...Madam,
Do take a look at this link - http://www.mcremo.com/mysterious.htm

It could be a possibility that humans existed for a lot more years before than what scientists believe.

I believe that humans existed 17 lakh years before.

- Sundar.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
