The list of kings before Rama given in th...@ MAP,

The list of kings before Rama given in the above article is from Valmiki Ramayana narrated by sage Vashishta at the time of marriage of Rama. He has listed down the names of the eldest, that is, the crown princes only. It doesn't contain the name Harishchandra though Harishchandra was the son of Trishanku. It may be because Harishchandra was not the eldest son of Trishanku. Vashishta mentioned Dhundumara as Trishanku's son as he could have been the crown prince.

You will find a repetition of Rama's lineage upto Mandhatha in Chola's lineage too. Till Mandhatha they shared the same ancestors. But after Mandhata the names of Cholan lineage are different and contain Sibi from whom the Cholas were direct descendants. Though Sibi is considered as coming in lunar dynasty, Cholas called themselves as coming in solar dynasty of Ikshwaku. Sibi's maternal grand parent was Yayati of Ikshwaku dynasty. Chola varman could have had some connection with solar dynasty paternally so that cholas claimed lineage from solar dynasty. There may be many missing links not recorded anywhere.

Chola varman, coming in the direct lineage of Sibi (near Indus river and in today's Pakistan) reached out to South East Indian port of Pumpuhar and set up his kingdom. There is a place called Cholistan near Sibi (place) in Pakistan even today. Perhaps other siblings of Chola varman continued to stay there and made it their kingdom. Chola in the name Chola varma refers to Chaula, the tuft. The Cholas were known to sport a tuft in the front of their head. Even today, the Brahmins known as "Cholia Brahmins" sport such a tuft.

Like Chola varman, there may have been many kings of the same dynasty but born to other queens or as siblings to crown prince. In all probability Harishchandra was one in the sub-lineage and hence did not find mention in direct lineage of Rama.
Jayasree Saranathan https://www.blogger.com/profile/01048252011566427834noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3442555339667770589.post-34656227629668410172017-04-05T12:09:50.298+05:302017-04-05T12:09:50.298+05:30Why Raja Harischandra's name is missing in Sri...Why Raja Harischandra's name is missing in Sri Rama's lineage?MAPhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16768362135297652202noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3442555339667770589.post-57856509300652562712016-07-27T13:19:43.312+05:302016-07-27T13:19:43.312+05:30I have just visited to your website which is very ...I have just visited to your website which is very informative in which you have discuss. Bharat was made king after Shri Ram, was that for Ayodhya or for Kekey only ? Somewhere else I read that Bharat ended his life with Rama in Sarayu, then how can he be king after Shri Ram.
Did Shatrughna also end his life with Shri Ram ?
Was Lakshman given capital punishment first and then did Shri Ram take jal samadhi ? Did Shri Ram take jal samadhi, immediately after capital punishment of Lakshman ?
Was Lakshman first one to end his life amongst four broithers ?
In Bharat Ek Khoj serial, it is shown that Shri Ram gave capital punishment to a dalit for reading ved or something like that. I can not verify this and can not find information about this. Is this true ? Or is it another one of Nehru's pervert conclusion ?
Please provide information on this.

Thanks,
JigneshUnknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16539304939548567603noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3442555339667770589.post-61474000936051540782011-03-11T20:26:42.429+05:302011-03-11T20:26:42.429+05:30Dr sanjog,

I would like to have details of this like exact place, time realtion to Ayodhya.
The reason for this is, if RAM took Jal Samadhi and people ask how can a God die. I have a different theory. Have you ever heard of "Stasis". Here your body is immersed in a liquid and it does not detoriate. Till the time you are awoken again. Does it Corelate. Would like more details.

Thanks
Dr. SanjogUnknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14714570332887558279noreply@blogger.com
