Union minister of state for home Sriprakash Jaiswal on Friday confirmed that so far, there is no information about any Indian involved in the terrorist attacks.

"The security agencies have caught one terrorist alive on the spot. The investigations are going on simultaneously, while the rescue and combing operations are still on at the Taj. We have gathered a lot of information and all the terrorists were foreigners. Some of them were from Pakistan and some from other countries. They had come through the sea route," Mr Jaiswal said.

"So far, we have no information about any Indian involved. However, the combing operations are not yet over and there could be new revelations at the end," he added.

Mr Jaiswal also said that though the terrorists were highly trained, the NSG would require only two to three hours to eliminate or capture them. "The combing operation is taking so long because there are other people holed up in the hotel. The security forces are trying to keep the casualties as low as possible, and we are ready to wait as long as required to save lives. Once all the hotel guests are evacuated, it is a matter of a couple of hours," he said.

Mr Jaiswal went a step ahead and hinted that the terror attacks could be a conspiracy hatched by rightwing Hindu parties. "There were serial blasts in Bengaluru just before the Assembly elections were held in Karnataka. Similarly, Assembly elections are soon to happen in four other states. We also have to take note that three senior Maharashtra ATS officers have died in ambush with terrorists. Certain political parties have been targeting the ATS for the last one month. All these factors will be part of the further investigations," Mr Jaiswal said.

Meanwhile, the marine commandos team (Marcos), who were involved in the rescue and combing operations along with the NSG and Army commandos, revealed that the terrorists were well aware of all the entry and exit points of the luxury hotels where they were hiding. The Marcos refused to comment on the nationality of the terrorists but said that they were not very well-built. They also revealed that the terrorists had several credit cards and a Mauritian address was found in one of the terrorist's bag. One Marcos commando said, "It was clearly evident that the terrorists were well-informed about the layout of the hotel because as the firing stopped, they vanished in no time and went elsewhere." In the operations, Marcos seized stungrenades, hand grenades and other sophisticated ammunition, ATM cards, US dollars and Indian rupees from the terrorists.
The terrorists were also found to be carrying a large quantity of almonds, often used as food in long sieges. The commandos said there were four grenades of different makes, most likely Chinese.Jayasree Saranathan https://www.blogger.com/profile/01048252011566427834noreply@blogger.com
