Some fructify in the same life (முற்பகல் செய்யின் பிற்பகல் விளையும்). Most happen in the next or another birth.

Everyone aspires, but not everyone achieves what one aspires. Read Bhagavad Gita 2nd chapter and Paramacharya's Deivatthin Kural to understand what is karma and how it works. Many achievers have achieved what they wanted to . It's bit confusing about Karma

BRAHMhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06344575939236755358noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3442555339667770589.post-13044711880931934132008-07-02T20:34:00.000+05:302008-07-02T20:34:00.000+05:30Comment from Mr MK. Krishna swamy:-

Should one attempt to assess the result of any endeavour by one's own prior definition of what ought to be the result?

When such measurement discloses a deficiency, should we conclude that we have failed to succeed and renew our
attempt to succeed by refining our method or choosing another endeavour, continuing the chain of actions until we succeed
in fulfilling our expectation?

Many books on Management science explain how to analyse the result of our ventures and improve our chances of success.
But the basic assumptions are:
i)not accepting failures
ii) learning from failures
iii) change/improve method of work
iv) if needed, modify the goal and finally, succeed.

Material success is limited to the area of pleasure through position, power and pelf; this does not always guarantee happiness which
ought to be one's goal in life. Many philosophers have warned us that expectations of success for limited end-results in all ventures will
result in failure. Purandara Dasar has said it succintly: aashaigaL eshto, niraashaigaL inneshto. Ramana Maharishi has similarly
stated: kruti mahodadou patana kaaraNam phalam asashvatm gati nirodhakam.

Their diagnosis: The cause of grief in life is our attitude in limiting the definition of success to fulfilling our expectations in the material
endeavours and ignoring the ultimate aim of such success viz., happiness. Ramana Maharishi advises us to work efficiently, not merely
for our sake but for the sake of others too and indicates the mental attitude needed for this:

i) Ishvararpitam na icchayaa krutam citta shodhakam mukti daayakam
ii) jagataIshadhI yukta sevanam

The following quote attributed to Ralph Waldo Emerson (disputed) is relevant in this context:

To laugh often and much;
To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children;
To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends;
To appreciate beauty;
To find the best in others;
To leave the world a little better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition;
To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived.
This is the meaning of success.
– Ralph Waldo EmersonJayasree Saranathan https://www.blogger.com/profile/01048252011566427834noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3442555339667770589.post-27035828268160299712008-06-30T18:13:00.000+05:302008-06-30T18:13:00.000+05:30good analysis!good analysis!திவாண்ணாhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17134281806497616503noreply@blogger.com
