Mr Nilesh Nilkanth Oak's 'Epoch of Arundhati' debunked.

Following the release of my book, "Myth of The Epoch of Arundhati of Nilesh Nilkanth Oak", I am planning to release a series of videos on the salient features of the book. Here comes the first in that series, that is exclusively focused on calling out the bluff of the "Epoch".

Mr Nilesh Oak made the nimitta observation of  Veda Vyasa, on Arundhati seeming to have kept her husband Vasishtha at her back in the celestial sphere as central to his research and deduced a time period of 6500 years when he says, Arundhati walked in front of Vasishtha. He calls this as the Epoch of Arundhati. He has placed the Mahabharata war within this Epoch at 5561 BCE, which is clearly 2000 years earlier than the traditional date.

In this video I am exposing the absurdity of the so-called Epoch of Arundhati besides highlighting where My Nilesh Oak had gone wrong. The narration begins with putting in perspective the symbolism of Arundhati, of why she could not have transgressed her limits. Please watch and comment.

  2. Dear Mr Gopi,

Thanks for the feedback. I know the audio quality is poor. I am new to converting ppt into video and still at trial and error stage. The head set is new, but I think it is something to do with the settings which I am trying to set right. Hopefully it must be fixed for the next video, due next week.

Glad to note that Rajivji had conveyed his mind by this retweet.

    Regards,

  3. Dear Madam,

    Namaskarams.

I am going through your book and will post my appreciation in some other post. Unable to frequenty post as publish comments do not work with mobile version.

I am using jhora 8.0. I simulated Kali yuga for Jan 22, 3101 BC for 4 pm at Ujjain. If you give me your email I am ready to share the screen shot. It shows Sun position as 22Pi00' for Shukla Pratipat.

At this position Ayanamsa will be 8 degrees descending. As the maximum ayanamsa itself is 27 degrees, I am afraid I am unable to ignore it.

    Pl. clarify.

    Thanks.

    Happy Diwali.

  4. Dear Mr Ganesan,

    Happy Diwali.

I use 7.4 version which is useful for horoscopy which I didn't find so in other versions of Jhora. I found it to work perfectly matching with the inscriptions of Kulotthunga period 1000 years ago. Chitra paksha ayanamsa was valid then.

For Mahabharata, use Pushya Paksha Ayanamsa which you get as Surya Siddhnata planetary mode in the drop down box. The error margin is less than 2 degrees ascending on Kali Yuga date. I have shown why this is closest to Mahabharata ayanamsa and also demonstrated the difference in time and planetary position for Pushya paksha and the current Chitra paksha using Janamejaya inscription.

Nilesh Oak's or for that matter anyone who uses astronomy software are grossly ignorant of the differences in ayanamsa. No astronomy software has taken the ayanamsa oscillation into consideration. As such any dating done with astronomy software is bound to give false results. I tested with Stellarium simulations and found the planets in wrong positions for the same MB events which I was able to get correctly in Jhora Pushya paksha ayanamsa. Similarly the shifting of seasons that Oak talks about are absolutely absent in Jhora software. His is a misplaced research with no primary knowledge both in astronomy and astrology and about the utility of the software.

  5. Dear Madam,

    Namaskarams.

At the outset I wish to clarify that I am a novice in astronomy and astrology and as such my comments are at the most of a diligent reader of your book.

For long I was wondering why Panchanga detais are written on any events say) coronations, grants etc. in epics or inscriptions. I found the answer after reading this book. As rate of precession varies siddhanta calculations aka) panchanga details are more accurate to date an event. For this understanding alone, I should thank the author.

For Nilesh Oak it looks he wants to see his 'findings' through whatever he can lay upon instead of going through the actual meaning of verses. Author justifies whatever she writes and as a reader I only concur with her due to sheer forcefulness and intellectutal truth of her arguments.

I thank the author for her help in getting Kali Yug start date chart correctly as I got it wrong vide my last comment. Her willingness to answer readers' queries shows her intellectual honesty which is missing among many researchers.

I would have only wanted two elaborations:

    (1) Why Surya Siddhanta ayanamsa (is it same as Pushya Paksha Ayanamsa vide my last comments? Pl. clarify.) is increasing after Kaliyug start date (zero ayanamsa) while Chaitra Paksha Ayanamsa is increasing?

(2)The statement "Saptha rishis were rising in North East between 7000 BCE and 9000 BCE (Location 3715 Amazon kindle)". (I infer that they fall outside stellar orbit of 13 20 (m-s) during those period)

The author is finally convincing in interpreting "Nilesh Oak's peculiar orientation with NCP" and why Arundathi was seen reddish as செம்மீன் (பரிபாடல்).

A must read for all astronomy, astrology, epic readers and novices who want to know what is the scientific truth in our epics and Puranas.

  6. Dear Mr Ganesan,

Thanks a lot for recording your impressions on reading my book. I wish that you leave a word or two in the Kindle page too to motivate more people to read. Decision is yours.

    Coming to your views:
    # Pancanga is an ingenious invention of our ancestors that not many in our country are aware of. But it was not so until a couple of generations ago. I would rather term this Dating researches based on astronomy software as absurd and arising out of ignorance of both Indic system of Time keeping and the limits of astronomy software for use in dating a long past.

    # I was happy to arrive at the exact date of Kali Yuga based on the application of the correct ayanamsa though it has an error margin of just less than 2 degrees.

    # You would also have noticed that it is impossible to date an event accurately that had happened anytime before the comet hit on a Pushya day in karthika month in Krodhi varusham when Krishna was in Hastinapur on a peace mission. There is a loss of one day since then. This, I am putting forth for scientists to work on.

    # Surya Siddhanta ayanamsa is not the same as Pushya Paksha ayanamsa. PP is PV Narasimha Rao's innovation, whereas SS ayanamsa is based on Makaranadacharya's (15th century CE) decoding of SS formulae which I found to work for Kali Yuga date. I made suitable edits in the book. My software was showing Pushya paksha for Surya Siddhartha by default and hence the confusion. I am happy that you cross checked and got the same results.

    # By SS ayanamsa, it is inferred that SS has recorded only the coordinates when the zodiac was in balance i.e. at zero degree Aries. It repeated again at the time of Aryabhata. Refer 5th chapter for why. I think you would have got some insights on what is meant by the zodiac at balance from the 13th chapter.

    # Only around 12K BCE (Oak's date of Ramayana) the sapta rishis were passing through Prime Vertical at Hastinapur (N.India). From then onwards they started descending down by which they started rising from NE and setting at NW as seen from Hastinapur between 9K and 7K BCE. I think by stellar orbit, you mean the ecliptic. They were never part of the ecliptic.

  7. Dear Mr Ganesan,

    On your query,
//(1) Why Surya Siddhanta ayanamsa (is it same as Pushya Paksha Ayanamsa vide my last comments? Pl. clarify.) is increasing after Kaliyug start date (zero ayanamsa) while Chaitra Paksha Ayanamsa is increasing?//

Surya Siddhanta ayanamsa works for the time when Vernal equinox falls at zero degree Aries. That ayanamsa cannot be stretched for other periods.

For current times Chitra paksha ayanamsa is the correct one. It cannot be applied for any time in past or future, beyond 1000 yrs both ways. Since ayanamsa keeps shifting, one cannot use a specific ayanamsa for all times.

Jhora is designed much like astronomy software in having the ayanamsa travel around the zodiac 360 degrees. That is why you find SS and CP ayanamsa increasing. Apply any ayanamsa in the drop down box, you will find it increasing or moving around the zodiac. Exception is Tropical (Sayana) ayanamsa which is zero now. Nilesh Oak is using that!!

I established in the 5th chapter why the ayanamsa cannot move around the zodiac. By the 24th century the world would awaken to that reality when ayanamsa would start forward motion. I believe some Russians are seized of this concept as I often see unusually high readership from Russia for my two articles on Vedic concept of ayanamsa.

    *****

Interestingly, Rama's birth time planets more or less fall in place in Jhora for current Chitra paksha ayanamsa with one tithi less. I infer that Ramayana happened at a time when the ayanamsa was the same as of now but in ascent. That is, Ramayana happened 7200 years ago. I will look for clues in Ramayana for ayanamsa after the current work is over.

Two big drawbacks in Ramayana dating (1) absence of any hint on ayanamsa. (2) year name for any one event in Ramayana not known.
May be due to these reasons no sages including Vyasa could hint at a date for Rama except saying that he lived in Treta Yuga.

In contrast, Kali yuga start date comes to us handy in arriving at MB dates. The above two drawbacks are nil for MB.

There was a time I was toying with the idea that Autumnal equinox was at Swati in Ramayana times based on Swati patha verse on Ram Setu. But that puts Ramayana 9000 years before present. However when I methodically started deducing the zodiac design even since Abhijit was part of the zodiac, I realised that Swati was divided between Virgo and Libra much like Chitra at current times, when Abhijit was part of the zodiac. So Valmiki has recalled an olden memory of Swati Patha that divided the zodiac into half in the past before Abhijit was removed from the zodiac.
