My book "Myth of The Epoch of Arundhati of Nilesh Nilkanth Oak" is published in Kindle

For long I didn't take seriously the book on Mahabharata dating by Nilesh Nilkanth Oak, precisely because I thought no one would take him seriously, particularly his proposition that Arundhati, the icon of pativratātva, transgressed her limits and went ahead of her husband Vasishtha in their celestially representative stardom in the constellation of Big Dipper. But times are such that not many know the value system epitomized by Arundhati and the various other concepts ingrained in our scriptures. It appears that not many don't even know that we do keep following a scientific calendar system that is computed right from the beginning of Kali Yuga that started 5120 years ago. Thirty five years before that Mahabharata war had happened.

In an atmosphere of absence of knowledge of even the basic features of our culture, I find the youth of today getting excited over the thought of long past for Vedic India and modern software being put into use to establish the past. But they should not be fed with faulty understanding of texts and concepts and mindless use of simulation for establishing the meaning of even scriptural concepts. Motivated by this factor I ventured into exposing the numerous errors and mistakes in Nilesh Oak's understanding of Mahabharata and his notion of the NON-EXISTENT Epoch of Arundhati.

This venture taken with the aim of transference from Tamas to Jyoti, seeks to achieve three-in-one over all - (1) busting the myth of Epoch of Arundhati, (2) establishing the traditional date of Mahabharata corroborated in a scientific and logical way and (3) establishing the fact that Skanda was the initiator of the first ever Vedic Homa heralding the Vedic culture thereby making irrelevant both the AIT and Tamil separatism.

Of these the busting of the Epoch of Arundhati achieves twin objectives of demolishing both Mahabharata and Ramayana dates of Nilesh Oak. Oak has made this 'Epoch' fundamental to his 'research' saying that the 'Epoch' forms the limits of the dates of these two Epics. According to him this 'Epoch' had run for more than 6000 years, from 11091 BCE to 4508 BCE. He has placed the date of Mahabharata war within this period, in 5561 BCE and Ramayana before this period. He claims that Ramayana did not take place any time after 10,000 BCE and Mahabharata did not take place anytime after 4,500 BCE.

By demolishing the very concept of the "Epoch" which I have done in this book, both the dates of Nilesh Oak stands demolished. This is a must-read book for everyone, for I have shown why Oak is wrong for placing Mahabharata in this Epoch and thereby pulling the start of Kaliyuga also to 2000 years before the established date.

  1. Outstanding presentation, lucid arguments.

Prof. Nilesh Oak should respond to the issues raised by Dr. Jayasree Saranathan

A debate will help resolve the contentious issues in Bharatiya Itihas so that the children can be told the true story of Sarasvati Civilization.

  2. Namaste, it is very great of you madam, to delve upon important subject. Along with it, Kali Yuga is made in use in day to day, that will be good. Govt of India publishes Rashtriya Penchant and is available in inter net, and it contains Kali Yuga calendar also.

  4. Madam,

I have dated Mahabharata. It matches with the archaeological evidence of Dwaraka and Shrikanth Talegiri's timeline very well. I have included 90 evidences from Mahabharata in dating it. Unfortunately, I have not had much success in publishing or popularizing it. Can you look at it and critique it

    Thank you,
    Krishnakumar

  5. @ Krishna Kumar.

I am sorry to say that your paper is in no way different from Nilesh Oak's in its absence of derivation of ayanamsa and fixing your own date of Mahabharata than attempting to justify the traditional date from which the 36th year forms the basis of Time that continues to be in vogue till date.

Take a look at how I derived the Mahabharata calendar and the ayanamsa with the result everything had fallen in place pointing out to Kali Yuga that began 5120 years ago at Pramathi varusham, Chaitra month, Sun and Moon in Asvini on a Thursday when all planets were close to zero degree Asvini. If your date doesn't concur with these five details (year name, month, paksha, star and week day) which can repeat only after 40 lakh years, know that today (the time of writing the comment) cannot be a Sunday in Vikari, Aswayuja, Paurnamasi.

  6. Dear Dr Kalyanaraman,

Thanks for sharing your views. I am ready for a debate with Nilesh Oak. But is he ready?

  7. Dear Mr Sundara Rami Reddy,

Happy to note that the Kali Yuga time compution continuing to be in vogue today by which one can calculate the year, month, star, tithi and week day of any day within the past 5120 years and any date in future, has been noted by you. Unfortunately this basic fact is not known to many scholars and the general public as well. Had they known, they wont be picking out some date other than the one and only date of the start of Kali Yuga which I have posted in the blog.

  8. @ Sameer Barve,

Good to see you here but I was expecting you in http://jayasreesaranathan.blogspot.com/2018/01/challenging-nilesh-oaks-dates-of.html where Dr Sunil Bhattacharjya ji was waiting for your response, I presume.

Awaiting your views chapter by chapter.

  9. Thank you for your reply.
I am familiar with your approch. Any dating of mahabharata must be based on 2 basic principles
    1. Only astronomical evidences in mahabharata must be considered
    2. All the astronomical evidences in mahabharata must be matched or explained

You muat know that if we take kali yuga started 5120 years ago, then bhisma nirvana could not have happened in the month of Magha. Krishna could not have started his journey to Hastinapura as a peacekeeper in the month of karthika. No date below 2500B.C can explain it.

I am very curious as to your source of planetary position for the start date of kali yuga. Is it in mahabharata?

  10. I am sorry to say Mr Krishnakumar that you have not understood or I have not conveyed clearly the need to maintain the Kali Yuga date, written in my previous comment to you. Better read my book and then come back. You have replies to all the issues you raised here.

  11. Dear madam,

I think I understand your argument of maintaining the kaliyuga date. In the process you are ready to ignore any other astronomical evidence contradicting it (like Bhishma nirvana etc) at its face value.

But my point is simple. The kaliyuga date has no astronomical basis from the mahabharata itself as far as I know. How can an astrononical evidence from a text from a latter date be used to date event of mahabharata?

I am not aware of planetary evidence in mahabharata that can be used to date kali yuga. You mentioned all planets near ashwini nakshatra during the start of kali yuga. If this is mentioned in mahabharata I will gladly accept your argument. That is why I am very curious for your source.

    KRISHNAKUMAR

  12. @ Krishna Kumar,

Who said that Kali Yuga date contradicts other astronomical evidence such as Bhishma Nirvana? Who said I did not corroborate all the astronomical evidences of Mahabharata? But I can say that you have not even gone through the content list of this blog before posting your comments. I repeat for the last time to read my book before commenting here.

Good that you are publishing your book on the date of the Mahabharata War. Hope you are taking care of the important atronomical data, such as, which shows the origin of Bhismashtami in the Magha month and that Bhishma left his mortal frame at the beginning of the Uttarayana etc.

Nilesh Oak's work on Arundhati going ahead of Vasistha in 5561 BCE is wrong. I found that actually astronomcally the 32nd century BCE date only is supported by Astronomy. After my present preoccupation is over I may prepare a paper on this.

Prof. Achar should have worked on the conventional date, but his loyalty to Prof. Raghavan seems to have overcome his care for the truth.

    Regards,
    Sunil K Bhattacharjya

  14. Dear Sunil ji,

I have taken care of all the astronomical data - the data set readily available in Nielsh Oak's book and also the additional ones that he missed. I have taken care of Bhishmashtami in Magha (produced astrological chart based on the ayanamsa at that time) when Uttarayana started.

I look forward to your paper that you are going to prepare after you are done with your current pre-occupations. For your information Mr Sameer Barve is here in this comment thread and offered to give his views upon completing each chapter of book.

Prof Achar had read my book and he congratulated me.
