Shimla: The Himachal Assembly today asked the UNESCO to include the 'Ram Setu' in its list of world heritage sites.
A resolution brought in the house by the ruling BJP's Rakesh Pathania demanding the inclusion of the 'Ram Setu' in the list of heritage sites was passed by voice vote in the absence of Opposition Congress MLAs.
None of the 22 Congress MLAs were present when the proposal under rule 117 came up in the House.
Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal later told reporters that the absence of the Congress should be understood as its "support" on the important issue.
While moving the non-official resolution, Pathania said that the 'Ram Setu' is a reflection of the golden history of India.
Supporting the proposal, Dhumal demanded the Centre to take necessary steps in this direction.
