A “secular” verdict on Ram Janmabhoomi.

The main issue whether a temple pre-existed in the place of the Masjid had been answered in the affirmative by the Allahabad High court. In the face of voluminous records and ASI report indicating that there indeed existed a temple in that place, it has been accepted that Ram temple had been there before. I think with this pronouncement the litigation is settled clearly. But the court has chosen to play “secular” in the way that “secularism” is practiced in this country.

There are 2 ways of seeing a litigation of this kind. If as an ordinary citizen of this country, I am in possession of a land which was procured by my ancestors through forceful occupation and I continue to occupy it, will the same court consider that the land rightfully belongs to me?

Second, I claim that I am the legal occupant of a land but it comes to be known that some historically important items are found buried in my land, then will I continue to be allowed to stay in that land? Suppose I find a pot of copper coins dug out from my land, can I claim the coins as mine? Should I not be expected to hand over them to the government? Suppose my land stands on a vast area where remnants of a past culture are seen buried, would I not be asked to vacate the place and allow the government to protect it? The land no longer belongs to me.

The same applies to a larger issue such as the Janmabhoomi issue. It is accepted by the court that the Janmasthaan stood there, but the final verdict on possession is not in tune with that acceptance. By dividing the land into 3, the court has gone beyond the parameters of the case and Natural justice that must follow with the acceptance of the disputed place as the Janmasthaan of Rama. The court has played a ‘secular’ game making me wonder whether the Congress government has any hand in the verdict. In today’s India, the judiciary does not hold a clean image.

This doubt on an ‘invisible hand’ of the government in the judgment is strengthened by the way the events developed over the last few days and also by what the sky map says for the time of verdict.

Initially the verdict was slated for 24th. But the kind of happenings that came after that gave an impression that the Congress government was playing an invisible game in getting the verdict postponed indefinitely or until the CWG would be over. It had feared that someone is going to be hurt by the judgment. Congress is a party which can not accept a verdict that does not favor the Muslims. If the verdict is in favor of Muslims, there is no problem. If anyone raises their voice against the verdict, they will be damned as Hindutwa forces or saffron terrorists or fascists. But if it is held that the place is the Janmasthaan, then the Congress will have worries on how the Muslims would react. But a judgment of this kind will be a convenient one to safeguard the ‘secular’ image.

Now coming to the astrological pointers.

The judgment was started to be delivered at 3-30 PM today (30th September, 2010).

Look at the sky map at that time.
The verdict time lagna was Capricorn lorded by Saturn.
This must be analyzed along with the Indian Independence chart.
The janma rasi of India is cancer.
The rasi lord is moon.
The reckoning is done form cancer.
The rasi lord moon has gone into Virayasthaan also known as the hiding place in the 12th from Cancer. This means the original self of the country had been muted.
This rasi lord moon happens to be in the 6th house of litigation in the verdict time chart. So this judgment will not be accepted and further litigation will be on.

The most important indicator is Mercury, the 2nd and 5th lord in natal Indian lagna. It was at 0 degrees in rasi sandhi at that time.(between Leo and Virgo).
In the judgment time chart, mercury is the lord of the crucial house of Dharma and also signifies Vishnu. Mercury also happens to be the 6th lord – signifying itself as the object of dispute. But as it was entering the 9th house of Dharma – facilitating the delivery of Dharma – it was frozen at that moment. So it was dharma partially delivered.

The suspicious role of Government in influencing the final verdict is seen in the 9th house of the verdict chart. Let me explain how.

In analyzing the time chart of this type we have to first see the lagna lord and its position. It is Saturn which is well entrenched in the 9th house of justice aspected by the Jupiter, the lord of Justice. So the judgment must have gone in the right direction.

But look at the sun behind Saturn. The sun is the signifactor for Government and is within 1 degree behind the lagna lord Saturn. In this position it is called Ithasala yoga. A fast moving planet coming behind a slow moving planet causes a yoga called Ithasala. The sun signifying the Government causing combustion of Saturn and also in Poorna Ithasala shows that the Sun / the government has scored a victory over the judgment or the events. In Navamsa chart also, sun is exalted and behind Saturn.

This smacks of some influence by the government about the way in which the judgment must go. And the judgment seeking a division of the land against expected norms in such a suit certainly raises our brows.

However ultimately, the existence of Ram temple has been accepted by the court. Ram temple coming up in all grandeur will also boost up the economy of Ayodhya vaasis – both Muslims and Hindus alike. Even today numerous Muslims are making a livelihood by their trade that is dependant on Ram temple.

Some 15 generations ago, their ancestors had worshiped Lord Rama only in that place. Their ancestors had been threatened, harassed and forced to convert to Islam against their wishes. For the first few generations, they must have cried at heart for the kind of fate that befell on them. But as time passed, all those had been forgotten. With the “secular” forces in Independent India now firmly entrenched, they have been completely made to forget their roots.

Their land belongs to Rama, Their ancestors belonged to Rama. Their livelihood is dependant on Rama. It is their temple that awaits rebuilding. The consecration of the sublime energy done long ago at that place is still trapped at that place and is waiting to be used by the masses. It will be in the fitness of things for the Muslims to dedicate the entire land to Rama and facilitate the coming up of the temple. I am sure all the Ayodhyavaasis are for it.

Summary of the Ayodhya title dispute judgement delivered by Allahabad High Court today.

1. Whether the disputed site is the birth place of Bhagwan Ram?
The disputed site is the birth place of Lord Ram. Place of birth is a juristic person and is a deity. It is personified as the spirit of divine worshipped as birth place of Lord Rama as a child. Spirit of divine ever remains present every where at all times for any one to invoke at any shape or form in accordance with his own aspirations and it can be shapeless and formless also.

2. Whether the disputed building was a mosque? When was it built? By whom?
The disputed building was constructed by Babar, the year is not certain but it was built against the tenets of Islam. Thus, it cannot have the character of a mosque.

3. Whether the mosque was built after demolishing a Hindu temple?
The disputed structure was constructed on the site of old structure after demolition of the same. The Archaeological Survey of India has proved that the structure was a massive Hindu religious structure.

4. Whether the idols were placed in the building on the night of December 22/23rd, 1949?
The idols were placed in the middle dome of the disputed structure in the intervening night of 22/23.12.1949.

5. Whether any of the claims for title is time barred?
O.O.S. No. 4 of 1989, the Sunni Central Board of Waqfs U.P., Lucknow and others Vs. Gopal Singh Visharad and others and O.O.S. No.3 of 1989, Nirmohi Akhara and Another Vs. Sri Jamuna Prasad Singh and others are barred by time.

6. What will be the status of the disputed site e.g. inner and outer courtyard?
It is established that the property in suit is the site of Janm Bhumi of Ram Chandra Ji and Hindus in general had the right to worship Charan, Sita Rasoi, other idols and other object of worship existed upon the property in suit. It is also established that Hindus have been worshipping the place in dispute as Janm Sthan i.e. a birth place as deity and visiting it as a sacred place of pilgrimage as of right since time immemorial. After the construction of the disputed structure it is proved the deities were installed inside the disputed structure on 22/23.12.1949. It is also proved that the outer courtyard was in exclusive possession of Hindus and they were worshipping throughout and in the inner courtyard (in the disputed structure) they were also worshipping. It is also established that the disputed structure cannot be treated as a mosque as it came into existence against the tenets of Islam.

No House for Mr Khan - where lies the problem?

From

House for Mr Khan?

September 26th, 2010

A few days back CNN IBN aired what they called a 'sting operation', A HOUSE FOR MR KHAN wherein they said that it was very difficult for Muslims to get a house in major cities of the country. Be it Hindus, Sikhs or Christians, no one would let out their house to a Muslim family. Fair enough, I agree that it is not so easy for them to get a house in a non Muslim society. But can you really blame these people who do not give their houses to Muslims? Is it their fault that today they do not trust people from Muslim community? Are they to be blamed if they're concerned about safety and security of their families and kids? Who is really responsible for creating this mistrust?

I really don't think that these people are to blamed for this at all. Their lack of faith is a culmination and not the reason for the way things are at the moment. And therefore, it was sad to see Rajdeep Sardesai trying to paint these people as villains of the piece without trying to analyze the reasons for this mistrust. There was no one on his panel who spoke candidly about how have things come to this. More importantly, Rajdeep himself never questioned anyone on this issue. Was it because blaming politicians is not really masala news any more but blaming citizens of the country is? Well, I somehow have a feeling that it was. And that's the underlying fact of this whole matter.

At another level if you go to smaller cities in the country which have a history, like Allahabad, Meerut or Aligarh, or even older localities of metros you'll see a phenomenon called MOHALLAs. These localities or MOHALLAS are essentially a place where you'll find people from one community and caste only. Haven't you guys heard of localities like Sindhi Colony, Bengali Colony (and market as well), Punjabi mohalla, Gujarati mohalla etc etc? Muslims too over the ages have always preferred to live in their own localities, for a variety of reasons.

What Rajdeep Sardesai conveniently chose to overlook is the fact that vice versa is also true for Muslims in the country. They too generally prefer to let their premises out or even sell their properties to Muslims only. If you google 'house for rent for Muslims in India' you'll get more than three million results. Take a look at this snapshot from a website called http://property.trovit.co.in, which quite clearly lists out houses which will only be sold to Muslims.

There are many such listings in this and other websites. As you can see, it's both ways. To just blame one section of the society is just ridiculous. Sardesai should've been more objective in his reporting and judgement in that so called 'sting operation'.

Apart from this, as you guys would appreciate, there is a regional dimension to this issue as well. People from a particular region like to stick together. Even in modern cities like Delhi, in it's sub city Dwarka, there are Bengali, Gujarati and Rajasthani Societies. And it is not just happening in India only. Even abroad Indians from a particular region like to stay together. For example, the director of the forthcoming movie Crook, Mohit Suri, says that he got the idea for this movie when he saw this ad in a store in Sunshine District of Melbourne which said-

'Accommodation is available for the Indian students for Gujarati boys only'.

Also, have you guys seen the latest ad of IDEA mobile services, which shows an old woman letting out her house only when the would be tenant puts on a facade of being from the same stock? As they say, birds of the same feather flock together. That's a natural phenomenon. And it's quite natural for someone to accommodate another who is similar to you in living and eating habits. Leave aside Muslims, my mom-in-law would not rent out her place to anyone who is a non vegetarian! Can anyone question her right/decision in the name of secularism or anything else? For those of you who do not know her here's a warning, don't even try it.

The divisions in our society are very much there and have been so for ages. As responsible citizens of this country we don't need to be averse to this diversity but we need to respect it. Yes, Muslims do get a raw deal but to blame our citizens for this would be a mistake. They did not plant this seed of mistrust among themselves. It is the way they've been influenced by our politicians who have exploited our diversity for their own gains who are to be blamed for this mess. Who knows if terror had not been such a burning issue in these times in our country things would've been different? If things have to improve, our politicians need to first start building bridges between the communities by amicably resolving issues like Ramjanambhoomi/ Babri Masjid and Kashmir imbroglio first. These are the issues which have been utilized by politicians to create mistrust, and in the bargain, vote banks as well.

Rajdeep Sardesai would do well to be more careful in his assessment than to just point accusatory fingers at non Muslims of this country. Giving out one side of the story will only hurt his own credibility, which after this report, is pretty low in my eyes.

Call a spade a spade

By

Dr Mrs Hilda Raja

Vadodara.

The CNN-IBN   telecasted a program on the 16th September 'Because my name is Khan'.The Copra sting operation had revealed that the Muslims are discriminated against when it comes to renting out houses to them-'Urban India shutting the doors to Muslims', 'Metros suffering from Muslim phobia' et al. There is too much of an exaggeration. When it comes to discrimination in renting out houses Hindus, Muslims, Christians are all victims of discrimination at some point or other. After all in this vast country with its teeming billions one can pick what one wants to project and make it look that the Muslims alone are discriminated against. This is far from the true. But given the population breakup ration the proportion of discrimination against the Muslims in actual numbers may be less-compared to the other communities. This is because of the population spread and of the ownership pattern. So one can pick and chose and find what one wants to find. This is unscientific like the Sachar survey.

Now to comment on the cobra sting-:It must be granted that Muslims themselves prefer to live in their own ghettos. If there is so much of discrimination against them where are the Muslim film personalities living? Everyone cannot get land, house of one's choice. But let us face the reality.

First it must be conceded that a house owner is free to sell/not to sell, rent/ not to rent his land or house. One cannot immediately conclude that it is discrimination against a community. The reasons for refusal to Muslims are varied. When Sadhvi Pragya motor bike was sold to someone and that bike was involved in serial blast incident look at the harassment and torture inflicted on Pragya. Similarly we must concede that most of the terrorists are Muslims and what happens if one rents out one's house and some terrorists occupy it or frequent it? Will not the owner  also be put to harassment?

Second- even non-vegetarian Hindus and Christians find it difficult at times to get houses and doors are shut at times. But they understand the problem. No one cries foul that it is discrimination. The sentiments –both social and religious of the owner must be also respected.

Third- Muslims do not rent their houses to Hindus even Christians. This from my own experience I can vouch. They like to live among their own. This is not an offence.

Fourth I like to narrate my own experience. I had rented my upstairs when I lived in Chennai to Salim(name changed). He agreed on a whole lot of things-like not parking his car within the compound during the day ,with a month's notice he would quit etc. Salim unfortunately did not abide with any of conditions in the agreement. Payment was not a problem. But when I decided to sell the house Salim refused to quit in spite of giving him two months notice. He point blank told me to go to court. I even tried looking out for a house for Salim but could not tell the prospective leasers that he was reliable. Would anyone point a finger at me and accuse me of being anti Muslim?

There was a high-rise structure of 16 flats on the same street where I lived and when we wanted to rent  one of the flats for a niece of ours the answer was that the 16 flats will be given only to Muslims. Though it took time for occupancy the vacant ones remain closed for a long time.

So it is not true that Muslims alone are discriminated against. They discriminate others. Vegetarians will not like to rent out their houses to non vegetarians. This is understandable. It is not the religion but the social customs and eating habits.

For example: opposite my house were a couple of Muslims houses and when they purchase fish the vendor cleans and cuts it outside their gates. The crows pick up the waste and flies all over the place looking for a safe perch to eat! When this was pointed out to the Muslim neighbors and suggested that they get the fish cleaned within their compounds and see that the waste is put in a plastic bag and discarded, they were simply furious and did not heed. These may be simple things but which cause a lot of ill feeling.

For one of the feasts the goat is slaughtered and the blood smeared on the compound posts. This surely is unhygienic, revolting and offends the religious sentiments of others It is not true that Muslims alone are discriminated against in Metros. It is question of habits and a phobia which the Muslims suffer also. It is not as though only the Muslims have religious sentiments which cannot/ should not be hurt; the others too have religious practices and sentiments which need to be respected. It is natural that they protect themselves from being hurt. What is wrong in this?

After all Indians cannot be blamed-The separatist mindset is Islamic-did the Muslim leaders  not want a separate land of their own for the simple reason that they found it impossible to integrated with the Hindu population? So now why this great hue and cry that Metros shut the door at the Muslims. They rejected this very country and got a part of it. Now to forced themselves on others and seek the acceptance of the others to their kind of eating habits and social and religious customs is not fair. The electronic media cannot make it look that the Muslims are the victims of discrimination. The Muslims are equally to be blames for they too discriminate the Hindus and Christians. One must learn to call a spade a spade. The media must be balanced in telecasting such views and resist the temptation of giving a one sided picture.

'The doors shut on the Muslims': is the sob story but when the Kashmiri pundits were driven out of their homes and hearths what did it indicate-just indiscrimination or a mind set of intolerance. Where the media was then and even now the Kashmiri pundits are refugees in their own county. How is it justifiable? Why this ultra sensitivity when it comes to Muslims and their hurt sentiments. But stoic silence when Hindus are driven out of their own? What kind of mindset does it reflect?

Finally individual freedom is a Constitution right - to whom one rents/not rent one's house is one's individual freedom and it shall upheld. Call this what you may like-one has one own likes and dislikes based not on just a make-believe world or on appeasement policy but on reality and experience. One cannot barter it away to join the bandwagon of pseudo-secularists or for the sake of appeasement. Is it an offence? The media needs to be vigilant and not fall a prey of discrimination on the basis of religion to which it is often a perpetrator.

'Kabaddi... kabaddi...Kalmadi' - article by Shobhaa De

There is nothing new to be ashamed of the CWG disgrace that has attracted international attention. The first expose was already given in Slumdog Millionare. The entire polity including the Prime Minister and Home Minister were gloating then when the Indian pride was raped in the movie. The international community is now getting a taste of what they saw in the movie. The same Prime Minister is now rushing to do some salvaging act. By turning a blind eye to corruption, the Prime Minister must have known by now what it does to us. He may be honest; he may not have taken the money. But as the supreme head in control of the situation, he can not close his eyes to the Himalayan corruption happening right under his nose. Some day or the other the damning repercussions of corruption will hit us badly. That is what is happening today. The Prime Minister stands as the first accused as an abettor in all the cases of corruption. Not all the cases of money laundering by the politicians may hit us like the CWG mess. But the impact would somehow be there on the nation and its people.

We are the people who are feared by Obama. We struggle and get a name for ourselves and the nation. But what a negative image these politicians are giving us! Should we need these politicians? It is my strong opinion that we don't need a shabby democracy like ours manned by greedy politicians. Damn with all of them. Let us dissolve all political parties and manage the country with a team of professionals drawn from various fields. Let one generation grow up without knowing anything about politicians, corruption and castes. Let them grow up with hard work, honesty and sincerity. The world has come from monarchy to democracy. Perhaps we need to find out a new situation by moving out of the discredited democracy of our land.

Kabaddi... kabaddi...Kalmadi

By

SHOBHAA DE

YOU KNOW someone is in trouble -big trouble -when the SMS jokes about him/her go into overdrive.
As of now, most jibes are directed at Villain Number 1 -Suresh Kalmadi. Sample his: "Baba Kalmadi, Have you any shame?

No sir, no Sir, we are hosting Common Loot Games.

Crores for my partners,

crores for the Dame.

Crores for me too for putting India to shame".

Black Sheep Kalmadi is in deep s**t. Err... should that read Dik-s**t? And a lot of smelly faeces has literally hit the fan in those pricey rooms meant for international athletes. Never mind.

Lalit Bhanot has hit head lines worldwide (80 newspapers, and still counting) by baring India's butt. Those different standards of hygiene" are likely to sink the Games in a sewage tank even before they have begun. Desi attitudes to what is sweetly called Number 2" (in schoolkids' parlance), deserves an entire tome to itself. Indians are obsessed by where, when and how to defecate. It is a national preoccupation, and has been so for centuries.

That we do our job anywhere and everywhere, and pretty much anytime, is well known. What poor Mr Bhanot has done is gone public with India's dirty secret. It is true -our standards are different from anybody else's. He has not specified better or worse.

Just different.

It is only in India... that too, in a crowded, busy megapolis like Mumbai, that one can see grown men, heir genitals hanging over railway tracks, as they crap companionably, discuss the news with other s**ters and walk away, lota in hand, like it is the most normal thing to do. Right across from where we live (and very close to where India's richest brothers reside) is a narrow pathway jutting into the sea that cuts the bay. It is an open lavatory that functions 24x7.

From the crack of dawn till late at night, one can see a steady line of men and children walking down this strip, carefully selecting their spot, squatting precariously and then opening up their gut without the least shame or self-consciousness. Most of the pavements in this area, one of the supposedly poshest in the city (if not in India), are covered with piles of excreta (human and animal). There isn't an inch left to walk on... dogs, goats, cows and people nonchalantly s**t together...
nobody notices, nobody cares.

We are crucifying the wrong man for the wrong reasons. Mr Bhanot naively dismissed the charges regarding filth and unsafe conditions in the Village by saying it is not "such a big issue". You know what, he is absolutely right. Toilets can be cleaned up... stray dogs removed from beds meant for sportspeople. The other clean-up is far more crucial, far more critical and no amount of heavy-duty industrial-level cleaning operations can rid India of this dirty stain.

What the country is witnessing is corruption of the filthiest kind -undertaken on a scale that may be unprecedented in the world.
The fact that the money that has been stolen by these crooks is our money -the public's money -compounds the crime still further. Were we asked before these monster budgets were cleared? Were the people of India consulted on the rightness/wrongness involved in allocating such monies for what is nothing but an empty PR (public relations) exercise we can ill afford?

And now that we know how systematically we've been hoodwinked, is there any way to make up? Recover the money? Canceling the Games at this stage, is an immature, impractical suggestion. But giving citizens an assurance that the guilty will be punished (jail the buggers instantly!) will go a long way in keeping collective tempers down. Aha -here comes the catch. Who will decide which persons are guilty? What will they be charged with? Where is the proof? It will be another Lalit Modi-Indian Premier League (IPL) saga... another Ramalinga Raju eyewash, another Koda cover-up. To anybody with some common sense it is obvious that Mr Kalmadi was not working alone (just as Mr Modi wasn't). It is equally obvious, everybody from Manmohan Singh to Sheila Dikshit must have guessed what was going on -and if they didn't, it reflects poorly on their administrative skills.

Why aren't they assuming responsibility? Why look for scapegoats when everybody knows who the looters are? Mike Fennell's role is suspect as hell, and he really has some cheek writing to the Cabinet Secretary to express his "great concern with the preparedness" for the Games, considering it is he who should be in the dock himself! What audacity. Sorry to bring race into this, but we always tend to give the benefit of the doubt to the White Man -any White Man. Let's put it down to our colonial hangover... we still bow and scrape, cringe and kowtow when dealing with Westerners. Go to hell, Mike! Mr Bhanot should take the cleanliness debate to its next logical level, if you ask me! Why not?

The only hope left to salvage our tattered pride is to let the world know how superior we are and how scrupulously we clean ourselves after performing daily ablutions. We can also talk about how we consider our left hand to be "dirty" ( for obvious reasons). Mr Bhanot can present an international paper on -you've guessed it -toilet paper! And how Indians believe in the efficacy of using water to clean bums. These sort of diversionary tactics may pay some dividends at least, while bridges collapse, catwalks fall apart, loose tiles kill a couple of workers and strangers from foreign countries stroll into the Village unchecked with explosives packed into large, very noticeable suitcases. As for all those star athletes and even countries pulling out -big deal! These Games were never about sports. Just as the IPL was never about cricket.

Both were about making money. So much money that the amounts one hears about could have taken care of basics like roti, kapda aur makaan for millions in India. But since the poor of India are nobody's priority in the first place, why play spoilsport? Let the Games begin. And let us console ourselves that thanks to Mr Bhanot, at least now the world will know that Indians probably have the cleanest bottoms on earth.
Those who criticise us are just jealous.

Comedian and Mylapore MLA S.Ve.Shekar, who has been hobnobbing with the DMK after raising a banner of revolt against AIADMK general secretary J. Jayalalithaa, met AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi in New Delhi on Wednesday. He is likely to join the Congress soon.

"I expressed my willingness… [to join the party]," Mr Sekhar told Deccan Chronicle.
"I mailed my bio data to Mr Rahul Gandhi 20 days ago," he said. "I received a call last week. I met Rahulji
at his office in New Delhi today," he said, adding that they had a "one-to-one" session with the Congress general secretary for around eight minutes.

Mr Rahul enquired about the political situation in Tamil Nadu and alliance prospects for the ensuing Assembly elections, he pointed out, refusing to disclose which Dravidian major he had endorsed. "I was impressed by his professional approach and cordial nature," Mr Sekhar remarked and said that Mr Gandhi appeared to have read his profile and discussed with party general secretary in charge of Tamil Nadu Ghulam Nabi Azad.

Asked about him not joining the DMK even after announcing many times in the recent past that he would the ruling party, Mr Sekhar said, "Yes I did announce that earlier. I attended the DMK general council meeting on invitation, but they did not respond."

CM defends his family

The audio of Murattu Kaalai, a yesteryear remake of Rajinikanth's blockbuster of the same title, was launched amidst fanfare at Sathyam Cinemas on Saturday (18-09-2010). This movie, which is produced by Chief Minister Karunanidhi's grand nephew Gunanidhi Amirtham, has Sundar C. essaying Rajini's role. Sneha has been cast opposite him.

While addressing the gathering, the CM remarked that there is nothing wrong if Gopalpuram (where he resides) turned into a tinsel town.

"Producing cinema is not an easy job. It is acceptable by all and there is no wrong in my family members taking it up as a profession," said the CM while defending criticism that most of his kith and kin seem to be dominating in the film industry.

Chiyaan Vikram received the first set of audio from the CM. Deputy CM Stalin, A.V.M. Saravanan, Ramanarayanan, Guhanathan, director Selvabharathy, Vivek and Suman were among others who took part at the glitterati function. Sneha was conspicuous by her absence.

PRAY FOR SUCCESS Rajini fans climb hill on knees for Enthiran

Being young or old does not seem to make a difference if you are a fan of Rajinikanth.
This was proved by a group of Rajini fans in Sholingur who climbed the 1,305 steps of the famous Arulmighu Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Thirukoil at Sholingur on their knees to pray for the success of Rajini’s yet-tobe-released movie Enthiran.

Over 100 diehard fans of the superstar in Sholingur town in the district — aged between 14 and 60 — took up the starstruck three-hour spiritual endeavour on Saturday. All they want is to see their hero’s movie have a “magnificent opening” and run for a record 1,000 days.

With Enthiran fever spreading across the state, Rajini's fans here were excited to see their superstar in his latest avatar.

"We are not bothered about the difficulties involved in climbing 1,305 steps on our knees. All we want is the grand success of our beloved superstar's movie Enthiran. We want the movie to create a world record by running for 1,000 days,” said N. Ravi, district treasurer of Rajini’s Fans Club of Vellore.

They also raised slogans in praise of the hero all the way to the summit. When they reached the temple, they performed special pujas for Rajini and the film.

Fourteen-year-old Raju, who was re-christened Shivaji after the release of the Rajini-starrer Shivaji, also prayed for the early release of the movie.

Evidence for Ram Mandir in Ayodhya: BB Lal.

Evidence for Ram Mandir in Ayodhya: BB Lal

The evidence marshaled by Dr. BB Lal is emphatic. (B.B. Lal, 2008, Rama: his historicity, mandir and Setu: evidence of literature, archaeology and other sciences, New Delhi, Aryan Books International.)

There were temples below the structure where Babari dhaancha stood.

The chapter in BB Lal's book is titled: 'Was there a temple in the Janmabhumi area at Ayodhya preceding the construction of the Babari Masjid?' See the vivid photos and read the remarkable Chapter II of BB Lal's work URL reference: http://www.docstoc.com/docs/19288715/Chapter-2ayodhyabblal

K.V. Ramesh's note on Ayodhya Vishnu-Hari temple inscription on a stone slab 115 cms x 55 cms. Read http://www.docstoc.com/docs/19263264/ayodhya1 Appendix from BB Lal's book (Inscription read by KV Ramesh) This is Appendix II referred to in Chapter II of BB Lal's book.

BB Lal's summing up is emphatic and unambiguous, expressed in anguish, but in subdued tones: "The evidence presented in the foregoing paragraphs in respect of the existence of a Hindu temple in the Janmabhumi area at Ayodhya preceding the construction of the Babari Masjid is so eloquent that no further comments are necessary. Unfortunately, the basic problem with a certain category of historians and archaeologists – and others of the same ilk – is that seeing they see not or knowingly they ignore. Anyway, in spite of them the truth has revealed itself."

Govt. should file affidavit in SC: Swamy.

December 11, 2009.

Statement of Dr. Subramanian Swamy, President of the Janata Party.

The Report of the Liberhan Commission of Inquiry, unwittingly and ironically, supports the VHP's case for a Ram temple in Ayodhya.

In Chapter 15 (Recommendations), Page 978, Para 176.5, the Commission states: "…..The question whether a structure was a temple or a mosque can only be answered by a scientific study by archaeologists, historians and anthropologists." This is precisely the VHP's stated position for the last 25 years.

The Allahabad High Court on VHP's petition in the year 2002 got extensive investigation done at the disputed site through scientific GPR Survey and archaeological excavations. Vide orders, dated August 01, 2002 and October 23, 2002, the High Court Bench asked the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to carry out Ground Penetrating Radar Survey/Geo-radiology Survey (GPR) of the disputed land, so as to ascertain possibility of proof of remnants of some earlier structure.  In compliance of these orders, the ASI, with the help of Tozo Vikas International Pvt. Ltd. undertook this exercise.

The High Court thereafter suo moto passed a detailed order on March 05, 2003, issuing a commission to ASI to investigate into the matter by excavating the relevant area of the disputed land.  The ASI took about five months  in carrying out the excavation work and thereafter submitted a bulky report in two volumes together with 45 site notebooks, 12 albums containing 329 black & white photographs, 28 albums having coloured photographs, 11 video cassettes, 6 DVD cassettes, registers of pottery, unsealed bones, architectural objects stored in tin-shed at the excavated site, individual list of 9 boxes containing bones, glazed wares, antiquities, day-to-day registers, antiquity register etc., etc..

In this excavation report (Ayodhya 2002-03, Vol.1 text, Chapter-X, Summary of Results, Page Nos. 268-269, 270, 271 and 272), the ASI states in the last paragraph: "…….Now viewing in totality and taking into account the  archaeological evidence of a massive structure just below the disputed structure and evidence of continuity in structural phases from 10th Century onwards up to the construction of the disputed structure along with the yield of stone and decorated bricks as well as mutilated sculpture of divine couple and carved architectural  members including foliage patterns, Amlaka, Kapotapali, Door Jamb, and semi-circular plaster, broken  octagonal shaft of black schist pillar, lotus motif, circular shrine having Pranala (water chute) in the North, 50 pillar bases in association of a hue structure, are indicative of remains which are distinctive features found associated with the temples of North India."

Other observations of the Liberhan Commission too support the VHP case for a Rama temple at the disputed site:

In Chapter No.2 (Ayodhya & its Geography) page No. 23 the Liberhan Report says:

Para 9.1: "Ayodhya is accepted in popular Hindu tradition as the birthplace of the Hindu God Rama and is therefore regarded as a holy and historical city."

Para 9.2: "Ancient Ayodhya was traditionally the epitome of Hindu life, culture and a paradigm of coexistence of a multi-religious society. It was a peaceful place with a regular influx of visitors pilgrims, Sadhus and Sants, monks,  travelers, tourists."

9.3: "Ayodhya was also known variously as Vishala, Khosla (sic) or Maha Khosla, Ikshvaku, Ram Puri, Ram Janam Bhoomi.

9.4: "Ayodhya is of special and specific importance for the sect of Ram believers or those loosely term as the Ramanandis in Hindu Religion. The place was the place of unequaled pilgrimage for Hindus, Monks, travelers, pilgrims, sadhus & sants irrespective of their region & faith."

9.5: "This place had become emotive issue owing to its position as the birth place of Ram, a theme present in every facet of the culture, connecting the past with the present & the future, this religious fervour had kept the town for centuries alive after successive rulers had gone by".

Page 25, Para-10.3: "On the East of Ayodhya is Faizabad town with a population of about 2,10,000. It has large number of temples mostly dedicated to the Hindu God Vishnu."

Page 26, Para-10.10: "The town is currently inhibited (sic) (means inhabited!) with a multi-religious population consisting of Muslims, Buddhist, Sikhs, Christians, Jains, etc., but the majority of the population is Hindu. The temples were open to public of all denominations."

Page 29, Para 12.1: "There are large numbers of temples, mosques, shrines, tombs, gardens and other religious monuments spread over a large area: rather, metaphorically it is said that in Ayodhya every house is a temple."

Page 29, Para 12.2: "Prominent temples were Sankat Mochan Mandir, Shakti Gopal Mandir, Shesh Avatar temple, Ved Mandir, Maniram Ki Chawni, Hanuman Garhi, Pr3eethi Ke Thakur, Kanak Bhawan, Rang Mahal, Anand Bhawan, and Kaushalya Bhavan……."

Paga 32, Para 12.12: "The topography and facts about Ram Katha Kunj, Ayodhya town or the Ram Janambhoomi complex or Ram Katha Kunj or the disputed structure are however not disputed. The facts are corroborated by NC Padhi in his statement with no contradiction."

Hence, since the Union Government has accepted the Liberhan Commission Report and this Report, read with the Supreme Court's 1994 Constitutional Bench judgment in the Farooqui case, that a mosque is not an essential part of Islam but a facilitation center for reading of namaz, hence any government can acquire any mosque for a public purpose and even demolish it,

I demand therefore the Government file an affidavit in the Supreme Court declaring that it will acquire the disputed area in Ayodhya and hand it over to the sants and sadhus associated with the VHP enable Hindus to organize a Rama temple restoration at the original birth site of Lord Rama.

A POSTING IN ANOTHER E-GROUP PLEASE:

BEFORE THE VERDICT OF ALLAHABAD HIGH COURT ABOUT THE RAM JANMABHOOMI ISSUE PLEASE READ THIS REPORT BY ARCHEOLOGICAL DEPARTMENT OF INDIA.SPREADING THE TRUTH IS NEEDED.

The Archaeological Survey of India Report

The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) excavated the mosque site at the direction of the Lucknow Bench Bench of the Allahabad High Court in 2003.
The archaeologists reported evidence of a large 10th century structure similar to a Hindu temple having pre-existed the Babri Masjid

A team of 131 laborers including 29 Muslims - who were later on included on the objections of the Muslim side-, was engaged in the excavations.

On June 11th, 2003 the ASI issued an interim report that only listed the findings of the period between May 22nd
and June 6th, 2003.

In August 2003 the ASI handed a 574-page report to the Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court.

The ASI, who examined the site, issued a report of the findings of the period between May 22nd and June 6th, 2003. This report stated:

"Among the structures listed in the report are several brick walls 'in east-west orientation', several 'in north-south orientation', 'decorated colored floor', several 'pillar bases', and a '1.64-metre high decorated black stone pillar (broken) with vaksha figurines on four corners' as well as "Arabic inscription of holy verses on stone" Earlier reports by the ASI, based on earlier findings,
also mention among other things a staircase and two black basalt columns 'bearing fine decorative carvings with two cross legged figures in bas-relief on a bloomed lotus with a peacock whose feathers are raised upwards'.

The excavations give ample traces that there was a mammoth pre-existing structure beneath the three-domed Babri structure. Ancient perimeters from East to West and North to South have been found beneath the Babri fabrication. The bricks used in these perimeters predate the time of Babur. Beautiful stone pieces bearing carved Hindu ornamentations like lotus, Kaustubh jewel, alligator facade, etc., have been used in these walls. These decorated architectural pieces have been anchored with precision at varied places in the walls. A tiny portion of a stone slab is sticking out at a place below 20 feet in one of the pits. The rest of the slab lies covered in the wall. The projecting portion bears a five-letter Dev Nagari inscription that turns out to be a Hindu name.

The items found below 20 feet should be at least 1,500 years old. According to archaeologists about a foot of loam layer gathers on topsoil every hundred years. Primary clay was not found even up to a depth of 30 feet. It provides the clue to the existence of some structure or the other at that place during the last 2,500 years.

More than 30 pillar bases have been found at equal spans. The pillar-bases are in two rows and the rows are parallel. The pillar-base rows are in North-South direction. A wall is superimposed upon another wall. At least three layers of the floor are visible. An octagonal holy fireplace (Yagna Kund) has been found. These facts prove the enormity of the pre-existing structure.

Surkhii has been used as a construction material in our country since over 2000 years and in the constructions at the Janma Bhumi Surkhii has been extensively used. Molded bricks of round and other shapes and sizes were neither in vogue during the middle ages nor are in use today. It was in vogue only 2,000 years ago. Many ornate pieces of touchstone (Kasauti stone) pillars have been found in the excavation. Terracotta idols of divine figurines, serpent, elephant, horse-rider, saints, etc., have been found. Even to this day terracotta idols are used in worship during Diwali celebrations and then put by temple sanctums for invoking divine blessings. The Gupta and the Kushan period bricks have been found. Brick walls of the Gahadwal period (12th Century CE) have been found in excavations.

Nothing has been found to prove the existence of residential habitation there. The excavation gives out the picture of a vast compound housing a sole distinguished and greatly celebrated structure used for divine purposes and not that of a colony or Mohalla consisting of small houses. That was an uncommon and highly celebrated place and not a place of habitation for the common people.

Hindu pilgrims have always been visiting that place for thousands of years. Even today there are temples around that place and the items found in the excavations point to the existence of a holy structure of North Indian architectural style at that place.

In the January 2003, Canadian geophysicist Claude Robillard performed a search with ground- penetrating radar. The survey concluded the following:

"There is some structure under the mosque. The structures were ranging from 0.5 to 5.5 meters in depth that could be associated with ancient and contemporaneous structures such as pillars, foundation walls, slab flooring, extending over a large portion of the site".

Claude Robillard, the chief geophysicist stated the following:

"There are some anomalies found underneath the site relating to some archaeological features. You might associate them (the anomalies) with pillars, or floors, or concrete floors, wall foundation or something. These anomalies could be associated with archaeological features but until we dig, I can't say for sure what the construction is under the mosque."

The final ASI report of August 25th, 2003 stated that there was an evidence of a large Hindu temple having pre-existed the Babri mosque. Midway into the excavations the courts ordered the removal of the head of the ASI excavations for not following the excavation norms .

Hindu gods of Bangkok

Everyone knows the famous Erawan Shrine in Bangkok dedicated to Lord Brahman, but did you know there are another five Hindu shrines within a stone's throw of each other?

Bangkok is synonymous with Buddhism, but the savvy traveller, the superstitious and the devout know that the city also has five other Hindu shrines the size of Thailand's ubiquitous spirit houses.

Together, these six shrines honour the Hindu deities of Brahma, Indra, Narayana, Lakshmi, Trimurti and Ganesha.
To visit and pray at all six is easy because they are all within walking distance of one another. All six life-sized statues are located on relatively small spaces, and worshippers pray in the open air.

It's customary to start at the famous Erawan Shrine, also called Brahman Shrine or Phra Phrom by the Thais. You should have no problems locating it since every taxi driver in Bangkok knows this most revered and famous of shrines in Ratchaprasong, the city's pre-eminent shopping and entertainment district.

Millions, including Malaysians, visit annually, to petition the four-faced Brahma to grant them their wishes. At anytime, you are likely to find devotees beseeching Brahma to answer their prayers as well as those who return to offer thanksgiving for wishes granted.

The four-faced Brahma at Erawan Shrine is world-famous for granting wishes.

Erawan Shrine sits on a small, triangular patch of land beside the Grand Hyatt Erawan Hotel. How the shrine came to be can be traced back to the 50s. During the construction of the hotel in 1958, so many workers fell ill or suffered from accidents that soothsayers were summoned to intervene.

The spiritual advisors recommended that a shrine be built in honour of Brahma, the Hindu god of creation. From the beginning, it is said that Brahma answered all the prayers of his faithful worshippers, with many returning to thank him by commissioning a performance by classical dancers or donating wooden elephants to honour the sacred elephant of Hindu mythology, Erawan.

Thais are said to be very protective of the deity, as became graphically evident in the early hours of March 21, 2006 when a mentally-ill man smashed the statue of Brahma and was killed by passers-by for the outrage. A replica was made, guided by Buddhist monks and Brahmin priests, and installed on May 21, 2006.

After Erawan, the next shrine to visit is Indra's in front of Amarin Mall. This beautiful jade green Indra carries a thunderbolt, discus, bow and triple-pronged lance. Indra is Lord of Heaven and God of War, Storms and Rain. He is the god who looks after mankind.

A symbol of power and courage, Indra leads the way in the timeless battle between good and evil and has more than 250 hymns dedicated to him in the Rigveda, more than any other god.

Vishnu, in comparison, has only 93 hymns. But not being part of the Holy Trinity, Indra is seen to exhibit more human qualities. He slayed Vritra to release life-giving waters back to mankind and also rescued the sacred cows of the gods from the asura or demons.

Offerings to Indra are usually yellow marigolds and small elephant figurines.
Once you've completed the ritual at Indra's shrine, cross the road to worship Narayana, whose shrine is located in front of Intercontinental and Holiday Inn hotels.

Narayana stands with one leg on the shoulder of his vehicle Garuda. In each of his four hands, he holds the lotus bud which symbolises purity, the discus which denotes the destruction of ego, the mace which stands for divine power and the conch shell which shows his power over the universe.
A god of mercy, Narayana is also a manifestation of Vishnu, the preserver of life who also maintains the balance of the universe.

The Narayana statue was erected in 1997, following a bad period marked by a spate of bankruptcies, to help ailing businesses. So if your business is in the doldrums, Narayana should be able to make your cash registers ring merrily again.

Your next destination then is Gaysorn, the upscale mall next door.

The Trimurti shrine

Head to the fourth floor and ask to see the statue of beautiful Lakshmi, Goddess of Luck, Wealth and Fertility. You will find yourself escorted to the outdoor terrace where Lakshmi stands resplendently above a golden lotus under a nine-layer umbrella.

Lakshmi's statue was erected in 1996 by the owners of Gaysorn Plaza when it was being built, and they have been laughing all the way to the bank ever since. As Lakshmi is the consort of Narayana, who you have just worshipped, your petitions should be doubly reinforced by this divine couple.

Said to protect her devotees from money-related woes, Lakshmi was born at the same time as other precious celestial objects like the moon, her brother, and her elder sister Alakshmi, the Goddess of Misfortune, during the celebrated Churning of the Ocean of Milk period when amrita, the source of power and divinity, was produced.

The deva (heroes) and asura (baddies) were said to have used the serpent Vasuki to stir the Kshisagar (Ocean of Milk) for a thousand years. Upon the amrita being produced, Vishnu took the form of lovely Lakshmi to distract the demons while the deva quickly drank the elixir and became immortal.

Bring lotus flowers, sugarcane juice, coins, jewels and other symbols of wealth as offerings, and you will be rewarded manifold! Or so it is said.

Now cross the road to Central World Plaza where the Trimurti Shrine is located in front of Isetan. As Trimurti is the manifestation of the Holy Trinity of Brahma the Creator, Vishnu the Preserver and Shiva the Destroyer, this shrine is said to be a powerful one. The joining of this trio, the holiest and most important in Hinduism, into one statue make Trimurti the representation of the cosmos.

However, in recent years, Trimurti has become very popular with young Thais for a different reason — they have designated him the God of Love! As a result, there are endless streams of young Thais and farang (foreigners) who pray to have the affairs of their heart sorted out.
Try to come at 9.30pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays because this is when Lord Trimurti descends to listen to prayers and grants love to those seeking it. Offerings include nine red joss sticks, red candles and, of course, red roses.

A few steps away is Ganesha Shrine, devoted to the elephant-headed god, a.k.a. the Remover of Obstacles, Lord of Beginnings, Patron of the Arts and Sciences, and Deity of Intellect and Wisdom. Also known as Ganesh or Ganapati, he is known as Pikanet in Thai and his power is said to be in ascendance now.

Devotees usually invoke his name at the beginning of prayers, important undertakings and religious ceremonies.
When Ganesha was born, he had a human head. Despite his father Shiva's foreboding, his mother, Parvati, was so proud of his dazzling good looks that she insisted on showing him off to all the gods, including Shani (Saturn) who looked at Ganesha with his dreaded "evil eye", burning his head into ashes.

The distraught Parvati then begged Vishnu for help. Vishnu directed Shiva to chop off the head of the first living thing he came across, and this — it happens — turned out to be an elephant! Deed done, Vishnu then replaced Ganesha's head with that of the elephant.

Another version has Ganesha being born from Shiva's laughter. As he was too alluring to bear, Shiva decided to give him an elephant's head and a protruding belly. Ganesha is one of the most beloved and powerful of gods. Despite his size, his celestial vehicle is a tiny shrew or mouse!

This well revered deity promotes success and protection from harm, which should just about take care of all of our earthly desires.
