It seems all that this country needed is a leader who can give confidence.

I am watching the developments with mixed feelings.

The situation is somewhat similar to that of 1977, when Indira Gandhi had called for general elections. At that time all the magazines had begun to cite the atrocities of the emergency months from June 1975 till then.

People were shocked by all the revelations.

I bought every magazine, every newspaper etc to learn about them. I attended all the meetings addressed by opposition leaders like Jagjivan Ram and others.

Then came the elections and Indira Gandhi suffered a huge defeat.

Janata party came to power.

Emergency was lifted by Indira Gandhi after she got defeated in the elections.

Morarji Desai became the PM and then began all the tamasha with daily news reports of how the various leaders like Jayaprakash Narayan, Charan Singh, Chandrasekar and all the others went on a daily meeting spree where they only agreed to disagree on every conceivable topic and never bothered about how to address the problems of the people, what policies should be adopted, what solutions could be brought about in the immediate future etc.

After watching the situation for a few months like this, I became absolutely disgusted with our politicians.

My feelings about them remain the same till now. The politicians might have changed from the 1977 period to the current times, but their attitudes have not changed.

So any suggestions that if we vote for some other set of politicians from the current corrupt Congress or DMK politicians will bring in the necessary changes for our benefit do not cut any ice with me. All the politicians are one and the same.

I understand your exasperation Mr Bala. All politicians are same.It is also true that the current political situations have a deja vu of 1977. Let us recognize this and do what has to be done as was done in 1977.

But the post -1977 need not repeat itself after the elections. There is no lok sabha elections now to decide about the national level players, but only some assembly elections. TN election has a significance now because TN politicians have proven their mettle in spreading their corrupt culture in Delhi also. If the DMK is not taught a lesson now, no one can arrest the growth of DMK type of corruption. Let us decide by the needs of Time. If the new set of politians also misbehave, we have to again rise up and show them the door. As I said in one of my previous posts, India is passing through a phase that the US also expereinced in the early period of Independenace. Vigilance, awareness among the public and a strict judical system put the US in the right track. We are also in the threshold of that phase.
