The Voter had the last laugh in Tamilnadu!

The verdict in Tamilnadu is anything but quite satisfactory for the majority number of voters spread across the state. I for one was happy on another count also - that my astrological prediction on Karunanidhi's fall did materialise. This is perhaps one prediction that I was anxious that it must materialise, mainly because the fall of MK means a lot from many angles.

First of all it reaffirmed the age old dictum that Dharma will assert itself later than never. It also showed that our people are not so mean as to be lured to vote for cash.  "சோற்றாலடித்த பிண்டம்" is MK's popular dialogue whenever people had voted him out. Now people have shown that they are not "நோட்டால் அடித்த பிண்டம்" by defying the nasty bribe culture of MK and his party.
Every news channel is showing some discussion on what had gone wrong with the DMK and the pollsters. What they have missed is why the voters did not reveal their mind in the exit poll. Headlines Today telecast their Exit poll on 28th April itself violating the rule of the EC and declared that the dalits had voted for the DMK combine. That was the clue. That they didn't vote en masse for the DMK means that they feared for their life if they revealed the truth.

The fear factor and insecurity was there in different sections of the people for different reasons. The reprisal by the local DMK thugs is a very real factor that affected common man on the road – whatever be his job. From a local flower vendor who earns a few hundred rupees to an affluent trader in a city, there had been an element of intimidation felt by the people. Everyone was suffocating for some reason by the high handedness of the DMK men. I think probably the only job these thugs did not touch was garbage clearing! Otherwise the DMK men were omnipresent in every field and in every nook and corner of the State.

What the DMK had been gloating over as 'organizational strength' is in fact a well knit mafia of DMK thugs everywhere in the State. Those sitting in the comforts of home and office may not be aware of it. But the vast majority of common man has had some experience with the local DMK thugs.  The people who had been given cash for votes know very well that they would be 'punished' by the DMK thugs if they revealed to whom they voted. The dalits had been the most exploited ones by MK yet they have learnt better survival instincts. The way they have fooled the pollsters is really ingenious. I salute them for resisting the temptation and also for playing cool and clever. Atleast from now onwards let no one take them for granted, let no one exploit them by whatever means.

Coming to the reason for the state-wide mood against the DMK, though there are several factors, the foremost factor in my opinion is that the people had been irked by the way the dignity and name of Tamils was tarnished by A.Raja, MK and his men at the national level, The people of Tamilnadu do not approve of the ways of DMK that looted nation's money. They also saw for sure that the Congress would not take action seriously against the DMK.  It was left to the voter to give the verdict on the national shame that the DMK heaped on Tamils as such. And this is the punishment they had given to the DMK.

At the end of the day, I am filled with pride about my fellow Tamils and the power of democracy. Our thanks go to the Election Commission for the way they induced confidence in the voters to vote according to their conscience, Mr J. Gopi Krishnan who exposed the 2G scam, Dr Swamy who took it to the courts and Ms Jayalalithaa who chipped in at the right time paving way for the removal for A.Raja from the Ministry.

We were waiting for this momentous day today which Cho Ramaswamy expected with a final dialogue of 'AAAA.. Raajaaaa' by Karunanidhi.

There is a slight change in that.

Karuna will be wailing aaaa.. Raajaaththiiii as Kanimozhi is going to be the first among others to face the axe for his misdeeds.

Very well done on the correct astrological prediction. I was awaiting the results to see whether you were correct, which you were.

Aram has won over Adharma. Its time now to roll back Karunanidhi's legacy in its entirely - be it his definition of Tamil culture, his diatribes against Tamil Hinduism or his sheer dishonesty at all levels. I hope he lives to witness that the Tamil Hindu identity lives on more energized than before.

Karuna will live to see Azagiri getting imprisoned which is likely to be in the 2nd half of next year. In the immediate future, Karuna's Venus dasa - Mars bhukthi has maraka indications. This comes in 2013- 14. He may cross this period also and live quite long as his is a purnaysu horoscope.

Yes.
But we dont know what will happen in the next Lok sabha elections which I expect an year earlier based on MMS's horoscope. If the Congress gets someone like Navin Chawla to head the EC, then forget all the bonhomie about fair elections.

@ Anjalai

My luck did not work. The candidate I voted for lost the elections.

I am sure JJ would do a Modi in TN. She is capable, honest and her better times are coming ahead with change of dasa in 2012. The press and the so-called intellectuals would not support her as usual. In this elections also, the people had voted against the expectations and propaganda of the press and so-called intellectuals. Modi also faces such an hostile environment but managed to gain the confidence of the people. When Modi can manage such a fierce opposition, it is not that bad for JJ. I see her as Modi in female form.

mostly 24x7 channels who call for interview n donot allow one to express or finish what you want to say!! i had seen one BBC interview of JJ with Karan thapar.

Don't try to protect Sonia's interests! - Dr.Swamy warns Jaya
14/05/2011 06:29:47 Press statement from Dr.Subrmanian Swamy

Congress managers have now begun looking for new coattails for Lok Sabha elections which can come early. It is shocking to learn that yesterday barely hours after the final results were in, Sasikala, Maitreyan MP and Ahmed Patel held a three way conference call to assure that "Sonia Madam's interest will be protected" by the new Tamil Nadu elect CM Jayalalitha.

Let AIADMK remeber that unlike Mamata's victory in Bengal which was self-made, Jayalalitha's sweep was entirely due to the 2G Spectrum Scam revelations and prosecution for which her contribution was zero.

If Ms. Jayalalitha like a performing monkey allows Sasikala to make these types of sordid deals with Sonia and Karunanidhi, and only give TV-compliant speeches, it will take less than month to expose her, despite the landslide victory.

In 1991 too AIADMK came to power in an even a bigger mandate on the work done by the Chandrashekhar government to root out terrorism. Within a year, I had turned the mood of the Tamil people and Jayalalitha went down in a large number of corruption cases.

The nation today has demonstrated a zero tolerance for corruption, will not tolerate the Banana Republic type cartel deals of Sasikala, the monkey handler.

The Janata Party which has now single handedly struck roots in Tamil Nadu but getting more several thousand votes in ten constituencies it contested alone, therefore has decided to continue to play the role of the true Opposition in Tamil Nadu against the new cartel emerging based on corruption.

Dear Ms.Jayasree Madam,

You have hit the bull's eye with your excellent astrological analysis and predictions about the fall of MK's govt.

Astrology needs the services of knowledgeable and experienced persons well versed with the subject. When you are handling the subject we have no need for any worries, since the predictions will come out correct most of the times.

Meanwhile I have a few expectations from JJ's forthcoming govt. for the establishment of dharma.

With the massive mandate she has received:-

1] She should try to create a merit based society instead of the people perpetually seeking some reservation or the other.

2] She should shun unconstitutional power centers like Sasikala from her inner circle of advisers. This will convince the people that she is transparent in her dealings.

3] She should decide to delink the govt. from interfering in hindu temple matters and their funds. She should make them autonomous bodies which must of course subject themselves to proper annual public audits, so that there will be no reason for complaints. Since she visits temples or hindu festivals without any fears or embarrassments unlike most of our "secular" politicians only she can take such decisions.

In her interview with Jaya TV she had mentioned that if people had voted her to power in 2006 also she would have seen to it that Tamil Nadu would have exceeded Gujarat or Bihar in developmental activities.

I will believe such statements only if she undertakes some or all of the activities I have enumerated above.

Other readers of your blog may or may not agree with me on this point but if dharma has to take strong roots in India only she can do it with her tremendous mandate now.

Whether she will do it or miss her chance only time will tell. If she misses this opportunity then people will lose all their hopes in true democracy and its values.

I think the 1200 crore building can be auctioned and the money raised can be used for projects such as solar power generation. All the buildings that are going to be confiscated from corrupt politicians can be used for the public as schools, colleges hospitals etc and those that can not be used can be sold and the money can be used for the public. In Bihar they do that. Let that happen here also.

The New secretariat is a wasteful expense done to satisfy the ego of MK at a critical time when the Adi dravida students are living in substandard hostels and there are no proper hospital buildings to serve the masses.

@ kppradeep

I received that statement soon after it was released from my friends in the Press. Normally I used to post most of Swamy's statements. But this statement lacked credibility and showed his personal vendetta. I wanted to show the absurdities of this statement and do an article on that. But wanted to wait to see if he makes such absurdities in future also.

The absurdities are :-

How on earth you believe that "Sonia's interests" can be protected by Jayalalithaa?

How on earth you think that Sonia would make a deal so glaringly with 3 people - of which 2 are outside her camp (Sasikala and Maitreyan)?

How on earth can you give a larger than life image to Sasikala while it is JJ who is thrashing opponents making them run துண்டைக் காணோம், துணியைக் காணொம். The first arrest of right hand of Azagiri has happened today. Would you attribute it to Sasiklala?

எப்பொருள் யார் யார் வாய் கேட்பினும் அப்பொருள் மெய்ப்பொருள் காண்பதறிவு.

Now it is known what had actually happened. On Sonia's behalf, Ahmaed Patel has contacted Maitreyan to facilitate Sonia to greet JJ on her success. Sonia had congratulated all the new CMs including erstwhile Congress man of Pondichery, Rangasami.

It is time Swamy does a soul search on what his priorities are.

I don't see TV except News channels. But I heard that there is some shift in Sun TV stance. What else he can do now other than falling at JJ's feet? But JJ will be ruthless and bring the cable rights under the Govt. It is with all that and the confiscation of looted property only, she can confidently say that she will fulfill her promises within 1 - 1/2 a year. Or how else she can raise quick money?

She will go all out to demolish the Marans. Politically they only had hurt her in the past through their TV. And now they are the only people within MK clan who have power and money. It is necessary to put them down to wipe off entire MK clan. JJ will do it. This time people would love to see her do that - to see the Sumangali vision fall. Vijaykanth also has a personal grudge against Sun TV for tarnishing his image through Vadivelu employed by them.

Without realizing the mood of the electorate and the vote for demolition of corruption, it looks funny to see persons like Gyani say in the Times Now talk show that Marans will serve as the link between Stalin and JJ!!!!!

It is all their wish - the media's wish. They talked all such things in support of MK and Co until the counting day and are not able to come out of that habit.

The vote is for JJ to root out corruption and the corrupt. JJ knows that.

Question to Jayashree Saranath. This is with regard to your reply to kppradeep's comment, in which Dr. Subramaniam Swamy has warned JJ not to protect Sonia's interest, for which you say that Dr. Swamy has a personal vendetta against JJ. Could you please elaborate on that more? Neither could I understand what you had written in Tamil, for I don't know how to read Tamil.

Please go through the past incidents involving Swamy wrt Jayalalithaa. This time he expected her to take him as an alliance partner. He was praising her initially after the 2G broke out and was making indirect reference to JJ to offer him 4 seats. But she remained silent. After that only he started his diatribes against her. Go through the news reports in the last 6 months. You will know.

OUT OF FIVE SEATS WON BY CONGRESS PARTY, THERE ARE FROM KANYAKUMARI AND THAT TOO CHRISTIAN CANDIDATES WHERE AIADMK OR ITS ALLIANCE PARTNERS LOST BECOUSE OF BJPS VOTE CROSSING MORE THAN 35,000 VOTES IN ALL KANYAKUMARI DISTS.JAYA TRY TO PUT DOWN BJP VOTE SHARE IN KANYAKUMARI BY ENCOURAGING THE CULT - VAIKUNTA AYYA,A NADAR GROUP.BUT LATER JJ INCLUDED SHARATH KUMAR TO WIN OVER NADAR VOTES.BUT STILL THEY VOTED ONLY FOR BJP IN KANYAKUMARI BECOUSE JJ WHILE ON HER TOUR VISITED MANY CHURCHES AND PROMISED TO THE CHRISTIANS LEADERS THAT SHE WILL ALLOW THEM TO BUILD CHURCHES ANYWHERE IN KANYAKUMARI DIST WITHOUT COLLECTORS PERMISSION AND ALSO THEY WOULD BE GIVEN FREE SUBSIDY FOR THEIR TRIP TO JERUSALAM
APART FROM INCLUDING CHRISTIANS IN SC/ST QUOTAS. JJ WAS THE ONE WHO THAWARTED THE NOVEL WAY OF KARUNANIDHI TO PULL OUT THE CHRISTIANS FROM THE GENERAL QUOTA OF BC/MBC/OBC/SC/ST UNDER 69% AND OFFERED TO CHRISTIANS 5% QUOTA AND MUSLIMS 3% QUOTA.ONLY JJ AND HER TV EDUCATED THE CHRISTIANS LEADERS AND FOUGHT FOR THEM TO BRING BACK AGAIN IN HINDUS QUOTA OF 69%.
MY INDONESIAN BUSINESS PARTNER A CHRISTAN CONVERT TOLD ME THAT IN INDONESIA, CHRISTIANS ARE 25% BUT THEY ALWAYS TELL ONLY 5% TO ESCAPE THE ATTENTION OF MUSLIMS. SAME STRATEGY IS BEING FOLLOWED BY INDIAN CONVERTS.
JAYALALITHA MUST TRY TO STOP THE CONVERSION IN A NOVEL AND TRICKY WAYS LIKE KARUNANIDHI DID ( HE TOLD ORALLY TO COLLECTORS NOT TO GIVE PERMISSION FOR CHURCHES - NO WRITTEN ORDER).EVERNONE AGREED THAT CONVERSION IS VERY SLOW OR STOPPED IN THE PAST 5 YEARS OF DMK RULE.

HENCE ALL CHRISTIANS VOTED ENMASS THIS TIME TO JAYALALITHA SINCE SHE PROMISED THEM LOT. WHEN JJ PROMISE
SHE IS VERY SERIOUS AND WILL HONOUR IT. BUT KARUNANIDHI PROMISED TO MINORITIES IN THE LAST ELECTIONS BUT WITHOUT EXPOSING HIMSELF HE DID NOT ENCOURAGE ANY CONVERSION AND THE MISSIONARIES TRICKS WERE SILENCED BY HIM. HE DID NOT DO THIS OPENLY. SO JAYALALITHA MUST LEARN THIS TRICK AND SHOULD NOT DO ANY THING FOR ENCOURAGING CONVERSION BY THIS DESERT RELGION. ALL CHURCHES IN TAMILNADU ANNOUNCED CHRISTIANS VOTE FOR SONIAS CONGRESS- THAT IS WHY SONIA AND CONGRESS WANTS.
EXAMPLE IN KERALA,CONGRESS GOT ONLY 32 SEATS WHILE KERALA CONGRESS - CHRISTIANS PARTY 15 SEATS AND MUSLIM LEAGUE 20 SEATS = SO MINORITIES ARE 35 AND CONGRESS IS IN ALLIANCE WITH THEM. ALL HINDUS VOTED ENMASS FOR ACHUDHANANDAN OF CPM IN THE ABSENCE OF STRONG BJP IN KERALA. ONE DAY THIS SITUATION WILL COME TO TAMILNADU UNLESS JAYA CAREFULLY PUT DOWN THEIR CONVERSION EFFORTS WITHOUT EXPOSING HERSELF.
IN BAGWAD GITA LORD KRISHNA ADVOCATES THERE IS NOTHING WRONG IN TELLING LIES IF ONE HAS TO ESTABLISH DHARMA.

I wish to point out a verse from Valmiki Ramayana, where Rama enquires about the ways of Rajaneeti that Bharatha was supposed to follow as a king. Rama says that in the name of Dharma, or by over emphasis on Dharma, the ruler should not indulge in activities that actually harm Dharma. The word Dharma is repeated in the verse with contextual meaning derived appropriately at each place. The verse is as follows.

kaccid arthena vaa dharmam dharmam dharmeNa vaa punaH |
ubhau vaa priiti lobhena kaamena na vibaadhase || 2-100-62

62. kachchit= i hope; na baadhase= you do not abrogate; dharmam vaa= virtue; arthe= (by your excessive devotion) to wealth; arthamvaa punaH= or your earthly interests; dharmeNa= by (your over emphasis on) religion; ubhau= or both your religious and secular interests; priiti lobhena= by your self-indulgence in pleasure greed; kaamena= and gratification of the senses.

"I hope you do not abrogate virtue by your excessive devotion to wealth or your excessive devotion to wealth or your earthly interests by your over-emphasis on religion or both your religious and secular interests by your self-indulgence in pleasure, greed and gratification of the senses."

Dharma is translated as religion and also as virtue.

What is derived from this verse for today's situation is that, the ruler must keep equi distance from religious interests so that no citizen is aggrieved.

As a ruler, JJ can not ignore Christians and Muslims. But encouraging evangelism is not correct. JJ has never done that, but Karuna & Co had actively encouraged that. Karuna's support to Deivanayakam's St Thomas and the movie which was actually launched in his presence are blatant acts of support to Christian agenda. The change of Tamil New Year's day, samththuva pongal in Churches etc were the results of Karuna's support to the Christian agenda. He did that at the expense of Hindus'rights.

But JJ never indulged in such activities, brazenly or succinctly. She brought out anti- conversion law and we know who opposed it. Her intention had been genuine. But she can not get into power by shunning Christians and Muslims.

In Gujarath, Modi is not doing that either. What Modi proved was that religion can be put in the backseat if people are shown the fruits of development. I hope JJ will also do that.

Look at her first orders on women. There is absolutely no religion or caste colour in them. Though it may be argued that gold for Thaali will benefit Hindus, in reality, Christians and Muslims also will be benefited as those people in TN use Thaali or some similar ornament in the marriage. She is clubbing all people in general groups based on profession, economic status etc. That is how a ruler can go about.

Jayasree Saranathan said...

cont'd

Looking at Evangelism, it depends on money flows form abroad, and unless Sonia Raj is curtailed, nothing can be done at Tamilnadu.

The awareness campaign must keep going and this election showed that such an awareness is indeed there. For example, of the 2 constituencies lost by the AIADMK combine in Chennai, one was lost by the Muslim outfit, MMK supporting ADMK, in Triplicane- Chepauk. The candidate was known for SIMI links earlier when he was supposed to have made a statement of bombing Parthasarathy temple. He lost the elections obviously due to the knowledge about him by the voters.

Another constituency where the AIADMK combine lost was Hosur where Congress won. The DMDK had its candidate there who was locally known to be engaged in conversion activities. He was defeated.

Voter's awareness did them out. If that happens, the parties would not field such candidates in future.

But in this election I think minority-ism was put in the back burner. Only Karuna is an expert in minority politics.

On BJP, the party has to go a long way. It lacks the leadership at the moment. By now, the BJP must have cashed in on Congress's troubles in corruption. But it didn't. On the contrary, JJ used it shrewdly and tilted the balance.

Without a leader of all-India visibility, the BJP can not make much headway. Its birth time horoscope, (April 6, 1980, 11-40 am) has its lagna lord in the 9th with Ketu while its 10th lord is in the 6th to the 10th in the company of malefics. May be BJP can catch power in the next elections, when its sun dasa begins in May 2012. But after that it will decline when moon dasa begins. I suggest that the BJP re-starts itself with a new name and avatar on an auspicious day.

Jayasree Saranathan said...

BJP made 4 % share in this election which is more than the share of communists. Earlier it was less than 2%. I remember the time Modi visited JJ after his victory in Gujarath. She hosted lunch for him at her residence. Modi started the talk of coalition with her for which she brought out a paper on the BJP's performance in TN in the past. Modi could not speak anything on coalition after seeing that. It was reported like this at that time.

It is only electoral share that matters. BJP's improvement this time will not be ignored in a future election. In that way, I think BJP did the right thing by contesting all seats. Even if the BJP can not win a seat, it offered a cushion to divert the votes when a section of voters did not want to vote for either of the Combine. For this the local issues and the candidate's caliber became the rallying points. BJP must grasp this and start from grassroots in TN.

The local body election will come any time, as we can expect JJ to translate the current mood to consolidate her hold in the local bodies. At that time, the people's attention must be drawn to local issues and the contestants. Eligible persons like Sarath Babu (Madippakkam) and Traffic Ramasamy will find a chance to make a presence in the local bodies. Let the BJP gear up at the grassroots.
